If you’ve followed this blog, you know I’ve been pretty open about that — especially with how much AI narration has started replacing the kind of work I used to get regularly.
Which is why an email I received today meant more than the sender probably realized.
A client I worked with quite a while ago reached out to let me know that a video I narrated for her had finally been published.
To be honest… I barely remembered the project.
Not because it wasn’t important — but because, as freelancers, we move from job to job, and sometimes the work disappears into the void after delivery.
Until it doesn’t.
She wrote:
“You did a phenomenal job portraying the narrator… It was a pleasure collaborating with you… I look forward to working together again.”
And then she shared the finished product.
A real performance carries intention.
There’s pacing.
There’s tone.
There’s thought behind each line.
Even when the listener isn’t consciously analyzing it, they feel the difference.
What struck me most wasn’t just hearing my own work again.
It was realizing that this is what clients remember.
Not the speed of delivery.
Not the price point.
But the experience of working with someone who brings something human to the material.
And maybe that’s the part worth holding onto right now.
Because even in a time when so much of this industry feels uncertain…
The work still matters.
The voice still matters.
Let’s Work Together!
If you’re looking for narration that connects — not just fills space — I’d love to collaborate.
